The Castle Class locomotive is an ideal model to haul the majestic Pullman Cars around the circuit of track included with this set. The locomotive control is provided by the amazing Hornby DCC Select unit which can be assigned with up to 59 locomotives with speed, direction, acceleration and deceleration levels – providing power is available, up to 10 locomotives can be controlled at any one time. (The transformer with this set will normally have the power to run 2 to 3 locomotives siultaneously). The R1160 is a great train set. The Cornishman Hornby train comes with three Pullman coaches which as you may well know if you have researched the Hornby Pullman coaches are very high quality.
This set has the DCC system which if bought on its own would set you back at least fifty quid. Also, the coaches would also cost you over twenty quid each. Lets do a breakdown of the costs as that would be interesting.
GWR “Kenilworth Castle” Castle locomotive would cost around £70, a similar loco, the Hornby OO GWR 1006 County of Cornwall Hawksworth Tender GWR Green R2937 goes for around the same.
